Joy O’Connor

Artist Profile

Joy started painting in the early 1980’s while living in Mauritius. Along with painters from various other countries, attended classes by a well known American teacher. Much of her work at that time featured the beautiful and unique Mauritian landscape. Upon returning to Australia and following several decades raising a family, Joy resumed her interest in the art scene and is a member of the Sunbury Art Society. Her preference is to paint in oils and acrylics. She has exhibited successfully at various regional art exhibitions. Her other interests aside from family are PROBIS and gardening. She is a member of a group maintaining the Sunbury Railway Station Garden. Joy is also involved in local and overseas groups supporting children in South East Asia with serious health problems, and has made many visits to India, Thailand, and Indonesia in connection with this work.
